About HIGA

Hiroshima Interpreter & Guide Association (HIGA) is an organization that is comprised of professional tour guides who are licensed by the national government (known officially as “National Government Licensed Guide Interpreters”). In response to the internationalization of Hiroshima, HIGA was established in September 1992, prior to the 12th Asian Games, with the help and support of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Hiroshima prefectural and municipal governments, and other tourism-related organizations.

HIGA is a human-resource organization. Our experienced tour guides and interpreters offer professional services and work hard to meet individual requests. We provide training programs for our members to further improve the quality of our services.

Model Tours

Here are some examples of how you can enjoy Hiroshima with your private guide. We can also provide tours tailored to your needs.

Model 1
4 hours: Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park & Shukkeien Garden or Hiroshima Castle by public transportation

Meeting Point: Hiroshima Station or your hotel in Hiroshima City
2.
Shukkeien Garden: Enjoy a beautiful Japanese garden built in 1620
or
Hiroshima Castle: Enjoy displays of traditional Japanese armor and swords
3.
Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park & Peace Memorial Museum: See the A-bomb Dome, the Children's Peace Monument, and other memorials in Peace Memorial Park, and then visit the museum where you can learn detailed facts about the atomic bombing that destroyed Hiroshima in 1945.
4.
The tour ends at the Peace Memorial Museum or your hotel.

Model 2
6 hours: Miyajima Island by public transportation

 
1.
Meeting Point: Hiroshima Station or your hotel in Hiroshima City
2.
Travel by JR train and a ferry to Miyajima Island.
3.
Miyajima Island: Enjoy a walking tour of the Island, a World Heritage site. Visit the Grand Torii Gate, Itsukushima Shrine, some temples, and the shopping district. Try local delicacies for lunch.
4.
Return by ferry and JR train.
5.
The tour ends at Hiroshima Station or your hotel.

Model 3
8 hours: Hiroshima & Miyajima by public transportation

 
1.
Meeting Point: Hiroshima Station or your hotel in Hiroshima City
2.
